Step 1: Gather original documents
For the submission of a renewal or new passport, you’ll generally need:
- the child’s birth certificate
- evidence that the child is a Belizean citizen
- documents that prove any change of name
- any court orders we require to establish who has parental responsibility for the child.
- a valid photo identification of the parent or guardian applying on behalf of the child.
You’ll need original and copies of these documents to complete your application.
You’ll need to bring the documents when you submit your application. We’ll retain all documents and return originals to you when we deliver the passport.
Step 2: Get your child’s passport photo
Make sure the child’s photo comply with our photo specifications.
Step 3: Ask someone to be your child’s recommender
The child’s recommender
- must be an adult born Belizean or Belizean by Descent who has know you for more than a year.
- must be a holder of a valid Belize Machine Readable Passport.
For the child’s application, you’ll need your recommender’s full name, address, phone number, and current valid passport details and a copy of his/her passport. The parent or guardian name whose accompanying the child to the Immigration Office for the passport application, is the name of the parent or guardian that should appear on Section 6.
The recommender must sign section 7 and the back of the child’s passport photo.
Step 4: Complete your child’s application
You need to complete the Belize e-Passport Application.
The child’s application form must be signed and dated by the parent accompanying the child and whose name appear on Section 6.
If the child’s age is 10 years and is able to write his name, the child should sign the application form.
Step 5: Submit your child’s application and pay the fee
Submit the child’s e-passport application and pay the passport fee at any of the Immigration Offices or a Belizean diplomatic or consular mission authorized to accept passport applications .
In some locations, you may need to book an appointment.
Bring the child’s application form, child’s photo, and your photo identification (parent or guardian) and original documents you need.
Step 6: We’ll tell you when your child’s passport is ready
On the date of your child’s passport application submission, we will tell you when you can come by the office and pick up the passport.
Allow about three weeks to have the e-passport ready for delivery. Note that oversea application delivery time may be longer, contact the Belizean diplomatic or consular mission where you made your submission for delivery time details.
Only the parent who accompanied the child during the child’s passport submission would be allowed to pickup the passport. You will need a photo identification upon delivery of your passport.
